Sisters Oregon Library Community Room Wall

Central Oregon Daily News

The Sisters Library unveiled some new art installations and held an artist reception on Saturday afternoon. Oregon artist’s large-scale art is constructed of hand-made felt and fiber. The piece will grace the walls of the Sisters Library’s newly renovated community room.

The public had a chance to meet Kún to discuss her work and get a first look at the installation. Unique art installations are planned for every library in Deschutes County.

MEETING ROOM WALL. ONE PERCENT FOR ART, OREGON

Design Objective: Create a site-specific permanent installation that addresses sound abatement and radiation equilibrium while enlivening the meeting room. Bring an immersive experience of rich color and texture into the room, working with design themes resonating with the natural landscape of the region and the community experience of Sisters, Oregon. The artwork will be a backdrop for speaking events that will seamlessly blend into the background when focus on presenters is desired.

Perhaps it’s the reality of our time on this planet that our thoughts have turned to water.  The Library Arts Committee was swept into the imagery of their local Metolius River all the comforting jewel blues, shots of brilliant colors that play in and off the water, and textures it holds in its depths and on its banks.  Deep, rich blues, vivid greens, punctuations of orange red really fit in this context.
